I recently finished a prototype for a new screen pass that creates a stylized anamorphic bloom in Unreal Engine. The goal was to push past the standard bloom look and give it that stretched, cinematic glow with a bit of an artistic twist. Right now, it’s not quite as performant as UE’s built-in bloom — I suspect I still need to refine the downsample chain — but it already runs fairly fast and looks great in practice. It’s one of those effects I really enjoy, and with a bit more polish I think it could be packaged as a solid Marketplace product. Definitely one of my favorite recent experiments.
