This is a more advanced take on the Spider-Verse style shader, but built on top of my own custom toon shading model. I created the shading model completely from scratch in Unreal Engine, so I had full control over how the lighting and colors behave. One challenge I ran into was with the shadow hatch projection—I wanted the hatches to keep a consistent scale no matter what, but without relying on screen space tricks. That part was tricky, but also what made the project fun: experimenting and figuring out how to solve those little artistic/technical details.
